Households’ saving pattern and behaviour in East Africa

This paper aims at examining the influence of households’ demographic characteristics on their savings behavior in East African region. The findings show that nearly people all gender and age category Africa practice life cycle model behavior. It is concluded from analysis preference motive differs one country to another. However, it shown education highly ranked countries as most preferred with old-age ranking least. Furthermore, results cross-tabulation reveal male-headed households save more often for business purpose than counterparts female-headed households, almost countries; younger head frequently older ones; those heads higher income less compared whose have lower income. Overall, are mostly used precautionary motives. implies inadequate social schemes insurance services Subsequently, governments region encouraged improve health systems respective enhance status lives citizens.
